Des del 1967 el riu m\u00e9s emblem\u00e0tic de Fran\u00e7a era custodiat per la carretera Express Pompidou, dins d\u2019una ciutat dissenyada per adaptar-se al cotxe (Pla de Par\u00eds dels anys seixanta). Es tractava d\u2019una via r\u00e0pida que estructurava el tr\u00e0nsit rodat del centre de Par\u00eds al llarg de 13 km en paral\u00b7lel al riu i que connectava cada extrem amb el cintur\u00f3 (p\u00e9riph\u00e9rique) que envolta tota la ciutat.<\/p>\n<p>El Sena, un lloc tan identificatiu per a la ciutat de Par\u00eds, va ser reconegut com a Patrimoni Mundial de la UNESCO l\u2019any 1991, distinci\u00f3 que reconeix el seu gran valor cultural. Una d\u00e8cada m\u00e9s tard, l\u2019any 2001, l\u2019alcalde Bertrand Delano\u00eb, molt preocupat per donar suport al transport p\u00fablic i a la bicicleta, va promoure el projecte Paris Plages, que proposava el tancament de l\u2019autopista de 6 h a 23 h durant un mes a l\u2019estiu. No va ser fins al juliol de 2012 quan es va aprovar definitivament el projecte i es va tancar permanentment l\u2019anomenada Pompidou Expressway.<br \/>\nActualment ja es pot gaudir d\u2019un passeig fluvial d\u20191,5 km de llargada. Pel marge esquerre es proposa un projecte que integrar\u00e0 jardins, zones de p\u00edcnic, zones per a activitats esportives, bars, restaurants, plataformes flotants i, fins i tot, un gran espai cultural per a concerts i esdeveniments. Avui en dia, el futur del Sena segueix sobre la taula de les administracions, del m\u00f3n professional i dels processos participatius.
