The LIFE ABATE project continues to make steady progress toward its goal of reducing emissions and odours associated with waste treatment. In recent days, the equipment that makes up the demonstration pilot has arrived at Ecoparc 3, a municipal waste treatment facility operated by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB), where the first testing phase of the system will take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An innovative system to improve air quality<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The LIFE ABATE pilot is an innovative air treatment solution designed to reduce volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and odours<\/a> produced in waste treatment plants. The system integrates several components that work together: a rotoconcentrator, a two-phase biotrickling unit, and a greenhouse where the captured CO\u2082 will be injected to explore its potential use in agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this technological combination, LIFE ABATE aims to demonstrate that it is possible to improve energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and advance towards a more circular and sustainable economy in the waste management sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delivery and installation of the equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past few weeks, the different components of the pilot \u2014the rotoconcentrator, the biofilter and the greenhouse\u2014 have been delivered to Ecoparc 3, marking a key milestone in the implementation of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
